About Butterfly Patch Schoolhouse

Butterfly Patch Schoolhouse is excited to be opening up an intimate morning preschool for 3-5 year olds in Wahiawa Hawaii just outside Mililani and Schofield Barracks. We are a soon to be licensed family childcare home with a separate dedicated school building. 

Our learning curriculum is a culmination of my teaching experience in Montessori, Head Start, and play based co-op preschools.  We use direct instruction with evolving lessons and hands-on activities, while also providing children the freedom and space for self learning through play and exploration. There is a strong emphasis on learning about our natural world. We will be spending approximately half our day inside our Montessori classroom and the other half outside exploring, learning, and playing. In addition, our days include many social lessons on making friends, resolving conflict, respecting others, and taking care of our planet. Butterfly Patch Preschool follows sustainable practices.

We are passionate about providing a nurturing and educational environment for young children, fostering their love for learning and exploration of the natural world. We're dedicated to creating a warm and supportive community for both children and their families.

Classroom Subject Areas

Our classroom is thoughtfully organized into curriculum areas inspired by the Montessori philosophy. Montessori education encourages following the child’s natural interests, using hands-on materials, and fostering independence and respect for each child’s unique journey.

🌍 Culture & Science

This area explores zoology, geography, history, botany, and more—with a special emphasis on the rich culture, plants, and animals of Hawai‘i. Children learn about the world around them through engaging, tactile experiences that spark curiosity and wonder.

🧺 Practical Life

Children build independence and confidence through real-life activities that teach care for self and the environment. Lessons include:
