Welcome to Butterfly Patch Schoolhouse
Welcome to Butterfly Patch Schoolhouse, a small at home preschool with an emphasis on nature, outdoor play, and Montessori philosophy. Our mascot, the butterfly, symbolizes growth, beauty, and transformation. We believe in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children to thrive and develop a love for learning. We want to foster a respect for other people, our earth and the animals on it.

Meet Our Teacher-Owner: Kaia Warness
As the founder of Butterfly Patch Schoolhouse, I am passionate about providing a holistic and nature-based approach to early childhood education. With a background in Montessori teaching and a love for nature, I am dedicated to creating a warm and enriching environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. I have a B.S. of Arts from Gonzaga University, Montessori Certification through N.A.M.C., post-baccalaureate studies at University of Portland in Speech Sciences and have worked in Head Start, Montessori, and play based preschools. More recently I have taken a step back from classroom work to enjoy time with my two sons and providing care for children in our home. It has been a dream to be able to open my own preschool at my home where my family can be actively involved with the school. My youngest son Everett (3) will be joining us for preschool.
Meet Blake Walla: Substitute/Business Assistant
My husband Blake will be occasionally assisting, and will substitute in cases of illness. Blake is a professional engineer who recently gained an M.B.A. through Pacific University. Blake enjoys building new materials for the classroom and playground, and will help support day-to-day operations including invoicing, billing, and contracts.
